Pressing Pause: Choosing Rest Over Relapse as Life Ramps Up

Hello to all my readers and fellow warriors. You may have noticed a lull in new entries on MY FIBRO LIFE. As the school year kicked into gear, I found myself needing to take a step back from writing. Even though I’ve been feeling relatively healthy and doing my best to manage my fibromyalgia, I could feel exhaustion creeping in like a shadow. With that exhaustion comes the fear of the pain that might follow, a familiar cycle that anyone with chronic illness knows too well.

Despite this, I am proud to say that I’ve been sticking to my tried-and-true system of managing my condition. My "fist full of supplements" has been a consistent ally in my daily routine, along with an exercise regimen that not only strengthens my body but keeps my spirits up. Exercise has become more than just movement; it's a lifeline for my mental health, a cornerstone in keeping the waves of fatigue and discouragement at bay.

While my overall health has remained steady, the added responsibilities and stress that accompany the start of the school year brought on a type of tiredness that goes beyond the typical. I realized that if I didn’t listen to my body’s cues and take a break, I would be risking a flare-up—something I’m keen to avoid.

Adding to the whirlwind of emotions was the recent election. I won’t explore that here, but suffice it to say, the results shook my world in a way I’ll address in another post when the time feels right.

For now, I wanted to share that stepping back has been the best choice I could have made for myself. I’m giving my body the rest it needs, savoring this time to recharge and prevent the relentless cycle of pain. I look forward to returning to MY FIBRO LIFE after the holidays, ready to continue sharing and connecting with all of you.

Until then, I wish you gentle days and moments of peace.
